The use of freelance translators permits the greatest flexibility
for obtaining resources to complete client projects. Each client's
project
varies in size and technical requirements. Maintaining
a database of translators with personal information, certifications,
specialties,
and education allows for selection from a broad range of
data. If you meet these criteria, please apply:
• Native of the target
language
•
5 years professional experience -(Outline of work
for past 5 years)
•
College degree - (Copy of diploma required)
•
Trados user - (Outline work done using Trados)
•
Affiliation with proofreader
•
Certification, accreditation, diploma or other translation
training
•
3 client recommendations - (College or non-pay not
acceptable)
•
Pass USTC translator test - (250 words)
Selection process:
Translators must submit their resume addressing ALL requirements. |
Test:
A 250 word test document will be sent for translation
with a 48 hour turnaround.
An authorized USTC translator will evaluate the results.
There
are only two types of scores: Pass or fail. Translators
will fail under the
following criteria: One (1) or more major errors.
A major error is any word
or phase that is out of concept and any non-sense
text. Three (3) or more
spelling mistakes. Three (3) or more punctuation
mistakes. Three (3) or
more vocabulary mistakes. Once translator has passed
the test, we will
contact their references to check the following:
Work quality, punctuality,
personality, and ending by asking: "will you highly recommend
this translator
and use him/her again? " |
